Day #3 of my new life

March 7, 2014

Things are going well so far with the Nutrisystem “Fast 5.” It’s pretty restrictive, meant to give you a week-long jump start on weight loss so you’re encouraged to continue. Thankfully, I haven’t been hungry. Close…but not actually hungry. :) I’m eating slowly to make the food last and trying to eat mindfully, enjoying, savoring, rather than inhaling like I used to.

I’m looking forward to my first weigh-in next Wednesday. I refuse to weigh myself every day. Some people can do that, but in my case, that’s a recipe for disappointment and frustration. Also, there’s an issue with my scale. It varies up to 5 pounds if I step on it twice. Not sure if it needs calibrating or replacing, still figuring that out.

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Nutrisystem discussion boards to get to know others who are on the same journey, as well as those who are successfully maintaining after losing weight. I think that support system will be crucial.

I haven’t started exercising yet, although I fully intend to. I need to unfold that treadmill and use it until it’s decent enough to walk outside, which is something I very much enjoy. I don’t think I have it in me to do any heavy workouts or weight training right now due to my fibromyalgia. It’s best for me to start slowly and take it one life improvement at a time.

It’s hard to deal with the impatience of wanting to see results, but I have no choice. In the meantime, I’m going to keep plugging away!
